At this immersive museum, you’ll step back in time to 1901 as you learn about the early days of Theodore Roosevelt’s presidency and life at the turn of the century. Roosevelt was inaugurated with little notice after the assassination of President McKinley, with the ceremony taking place at an associate’s house where he was staying. The rooms of the house have been historically restored, and you’ll find many interactive exhibits that will let you feel like part of the action on Inauguration Day.
You’ll discover the challenges faced by the former Vise President in the early days of his presidency during a guided tour. You’ll also gain insight into the rapid advance of technology in the 1900s, celebrated at the Pan-American Exposition world fair of 1901. You’ll see some of the exposition's attractions like the electric light and have a chance to operate a kinetoscope and play a Captains of Industry game.
